How it started
In 2020 we were watching Getir: the app was growing almost unnoticed and proving that groceries could arrive in 15 minutes. We decided to test that in Tashkent. A year went into customer research, a plan from scratch and a business strategy. In 2021 we agreed terms with an investor, and the project got going.
I was a co-founder and product designer, then took over design and project management, and after launch the whole process landed on me. The ERP, the apps for customers, couriers and pickers, the order board: we came up with all of it from scratch, through research and talking to shoppers, in Uzbek, Russian, English and Turkish. A team of developers wrote the code: 15 backend services and all the apps.
In 2023 Dokon closed for financial reasons. It hurt, yes. But it's my greatest treasure and my most useful school: almost everything I can do in product today, I first understood there.
