Tezzy: Coffee pre-order marketplace

Order your coffee on the way and pick it up without the queue. A coffee shop gets set up from a phone in two minutes, menu included. The apps, product and design are on me.

How it started

Coffee is another thing I'm into xD You might think I'm into everything, and you wouldn't be far off. But when I take on something I love, I get incredibly productive. Coffee started in Istanbul: my own cold brew first, then an espresso machine at home, and coffee became a daily ritual.

Claude Code took the gym away from me, but it never got to the coffee xD I'll be back in the gym, I promise. In the meantime, the idea: order your coffee on the way and pick it up without the queue. We borrowed it from Drinkit, honestly. But before writing any code, I went around the coffee shops whose owners I know personally and asked. The pain was real, and we sat down to build an MVP.

We build Tezzy as a duo with Zafar Fayzulloh. We've known each other since the Dokon days and have been through a lot together. He's stronger on the technical side and DevOps, I'm stronger in the domain and design. The same synergy as in Mezon. If you need someone seriously strong in DevOps, I recommend him ;)

As I said, on a subject I love I'm more productive than usual, and the app came together fast. A coffee shop opens a branch from a phone and puts its menu together in two minutes. Accounting and the legal side follow Uzbek law, and we worked out the business model before launch, not after. We run Tezzy in production ourselves, every day, so the apps fly even on cheap phones, and an order still reaches a moody Bluetooth printer even if the connection dropped along the way.

Google Play is already live. The App Store is taking longer than usual to review us: after the wave of apps slapped together with AI in an evening, Apple looks at each one very carefully, and you can see why.

What I did

  • Customer and business apps in Flutter, iOS Live Activities for order status
  • Coffee shop setup from a phone: a branch with its menu is ready to take orders in two minutes
  • App speed: font subsetting saved ~328 KB, the menu is cached for 5 minutes, reopening the app sends zero requests, quality tiers for weaker phones
  • Photo compression on the server: a 3.2 MB shot from a 24 MP camera is stored as 83 KB
  • A Bluetooth label printer that prints new orders on its own: 180-byte blocks, retries after 2, 4 and 8 seconds, and a queue that survives reconnects
  • TV menu over WebSocket (tezzy.uz/tv)
  • AI menu import from a photo (106 of 106 lines right in testing, the coffee shop confirms every line) and AI photo processing, where anything that fails the check goes to a moderator
  • Loyalty stamps, and an automatic refund if the coffee shop doesn't accept the order in time
  • Sign in with Google, Telegram and Apple; payments through Payme, Rahmat and Multicard

Who did what

Backend speed (Redis cache, ETag, N+1 fixes, WebSocket boards, WebP media variants), deploys with auto rollback, admin passkeys, the log center, DB explorer and the Payme webhook core: Zafar Fayzulloh, my co-founder. Apps, product and design: me.

Stock in spreadsheets, orders in Telegram?

That's fixable. Write a couple of lines about the task and I'll answer myself, no managers, no bots. Uzbek, Russian, English or Turkish, whichever you like.
